Fab Lab Manorhamilton and the Leitrim Sculpture Centre collaborated with Gaelscoil Chluainín on a school art project. A series of design and making workshops were held with the children from 6th Class in the Gaelscoil. The aim was to create an outdoor art installation that would be unveiled at their graduation day celebrations. The children all contributed ideas to the project and then visited the Fab Lab and LSC to create their group and individual artwork.

At the Fab Lab the children used the 3D Scanner to scan their heads and create 3D busts which were 3D Printed using our Ultimaker 2. These 3D Prints were then taken to the LSC and used to create molds from which solid metal replicas were crafted.

The children also used Inkscape to create Andy Warhol style images of themselves from digital photographs. The two tone images were then cut out in brightly coloured vinyl on the vinyl cutter in the Lab and carefully stuck onto lasercut acrylic to create a large collage of their individual images.
