We’re very proud to welcome the innovative and ground-breaking team from PrintCity to the CREATE family.

MMU Print City meets with CREATE Education (Michelle Chatterley), Spark Penketh (Caroline Keep), LJMU Fab Lab (Laurence Baker) at Print City to start our collaborative partnership. Also in the image, Professor Keith Brown, Pete Gough, Ed Keefe, Josh Best, Gary Buller and Elen Parry.

Housed within Manchester Metropolitan University, PrintCity is a modern digital manufacturing facility specialising in additive manufacturing and education.

As an authorised Autodesk Training Centre, teaching Fusion 360 and Generative Design, the facility is unique in that it works with everyone and anyone from those taking their first steps in Computer Aided Design (CAD), or 3D printing to those studying for advanced qualifications.

This means that students from all facets of education are embracing 3D printing and seeing and experiencing its applications to their field whilst drawing from the experiences of those in other fields too.

All 3D printed parts begin with a CAD file and to help students develop this skill, the facility has a dedicated CAD suite with 28 powerful machines running Autodesk Fusion 360 software.

A user can then continue their journey using one of 50 3D printers for manufacturing plastic, metal and gypsum powder parts, along with a broad range of associated technologies, including scanning, laser welding and laser-cutting.

Education is at the heart of PrintCity, they work across multiple disciplines within the University and use industry partnerships to ensure that the latest skills and technologies allow students from multiple disciplines to innovate and bring their ideas to life.

PrintCity encourages collaboration on projects within and across a variety of academic disciplines and also work on fundamental research and knowledge exchange (contract research, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships etc) with SMEs.

In addition to PrintCity joining as a Create Education hub, a number of the PrintCity team are also joining as CREATE Ambassadors to help promote the good word of 3D Printing amongst the education community!
