Alice Woods

Originally from the North East, Alice is a graduate of Fine Art from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London and now works as a practising artist, regularly exhibiting nationally and internationally. She is also a co-director of Light Eye Mind gallery in North London, an artist-run space that focuses of participatory and performative work.

Her own artistic practice focuses on dissections of the real economy and projections of possible future models, and often acts as a gateway to explore contentious economic situations.

Working with a diverse range of mediums, Alice’s research regularly transforms into sculptural, written or participatory outcomes. Alice is interested in how contemporary art can impact the broader socio-economic landscape.

As an artist (and general DIY enthusiast), Alice’s particular excitement over the 3D printing movement centres around its democratic process. It allows anyone to take ownership of the “stuff” in their lives, and come to understand the wonderfully creative process of designing, producing and consuming. She is thrilled to be a CREATE Ambassador and wholly embraces the collaborative and innovative ethos of the project.
