James is Head of Education Strategy at RS Components, joining the team in 2006. Prior to this James was an aircraft engineer in the Royal Navy.
Now accountable for the Education Strategy in EMEA, James leads a team responsible for inspiring the next generation of engineers through experiential STEM engagement. This entails encouraging more children to pursue STEM-related subjects through academia, that will lead to engineering and technical roles. Currently, there is aglobal skills shortage, with a lack of qualified engineers coming through the system who have theright skills to take up jobs in a sector which constantly is being disrupted by changes in technology, such as 3D printing and additive manufacturing.
As anex-engineer James feels privileged to be involved in supporting the development of young people andensuring we secure a pipeline of digital and technical talent to support the future of both RSComponents and the engineering industry itself.
