Melissa is currently the founder and CEO of Rem3dy Group, which pioneers 3D printed personalised health solutions in nutrition and medicine through brands Nourished and Scripted. Melissa began her entrepreneurial journey at the age of 23, starting a financial business, but realising she wasn’t truly passionate. So, in 2010, she founded company FTF Sweets Ltd, UK, creating the world’s first vegan, natural and allergen-free fruit sweet with the brand name Goody Good Stuff, where it became clear that customers wanted a more personalised product. In early 2015, after selling Goody Good Stuff, Melissa partnered with the German Katjes corporation to launch Katjes Magic Candy Factory, a confectionary company that allows the consumer to 3D print vegan gummy candy of anything from selfies and logos to 3D messages and shapes in only 5 minutes. Working with the Katjes team, they considered how 3D printing technology could be harnessed in the confectionery industry. After research, trials and testing they patented the 3D printer that could create a personalised confectionary on the spot, and so Magic Candy Factory was born.
By pioneering the personalisation industry, Melissa’s current Rem3dy Group projects, Nourished and Scripted, are an extension of the technology’s capabilities. Nourished produces the world’s only seven-stack personalised vitamin gummy, while scripted is set to be the first 3D printing personalised medicine dispensary, breaking into the pharmaceutical industry with accurate, personalised doses.
Melissa believes that we are experiencing a new generation of inspiring and exceptionally gifted students who will disrupt the technology industry in years to come. She has been involved in some exciting education programmes to promote STEM to girls in school, showing them how their skills can be applied in a working environment.
