Sudha Kheterpal
Sudha Kheterpal is a pop musician turned entrepreneur and Founder of clean-tech Startup, Shake Your Power. The heartbeat of electronic band Faithless for 15 years, Sudha has enjoyed huge global success and can be seen featured as percussionist on records and tours with mainstream artists including Dido, The Spice Girls and Kylie Minogue.
Inspired by the energy created by the audience at music gigs, alongside her belief that the power of music could be used not just for enjoyment but for practical help and education, Sudha has developed the world’s first clean energy-generating percussion shaker, SPARK. SPARK acts as a mini portable generator that creates clean, kinetic energy as it is played. Just 12 minutes of playing generates one hour of light and with its smart power system, SPARK can charge up a mobile phone
Launched via Kickstarter in 2014, SPARK is proving to be a viable solution for some of the 1.2 billion people living off the grid as well as an inspirational learning tool for young people. Through the Edu-SPARK assembly kit, children can learn STEAM subjects by building their own energy-generating shaker through the fun medium of music.
SPARK was winner of the London Design Awards 2014 for best product design for personal use and Edu-SPARK won the London Design Awards 2015 for best product design for education.
Edu-SPARK will be launched in November 2016.
