Introduction to Fusion 360 and 3D Printing

Date - 28/10/2019 - 29/10/2019

This FREE two-day course provides an insight into using Fusion 360 as an all in one solution to your manufacturing needs. Exploring the powerful capabilities of Autodesk’s cloud-based software you will learn about computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided engineering (CAE) and computer-aided manufacture (CAM).

Day one will focus on getting to know Fusion 360 as a piece of software for CAD and CAE, introducing you to 2D and 3D drawing. Day 2 will be spent learning to 3D print the models you created on day 1, as well as learning how to program and maintain the Ultimaker 3D printers, with a particular focus on the dual extrusion capabilities of the Ultimaker 3.

Autodesk Fusion 360 is a hybrid CAD package combining all the features expected from a high-level CAD package along with a web-based element thank allows excellent team collaboration and project management of design items.

The course will introduce software covering:

Navigation, Teams and Project Structure

  • The use of sketches and parametric design elements,
  • The development of component pieces and combining those as assemblies
  • The application of materials, scenes and appearances
  • The sculpt environment

Users will also be given a demonstration of generative design elements and simulation testing, though these will be demonstrations and not taught modules due to time constraints.

If you would like to take part please send a short Expression of Interest outlining why you would like to take part and introducing yourself and what you do (including whether you are a self-employed sole trader or have your own business) to steamhouse@bcu.ac.uk
