3D Printing Software
In order to design and prepare models for 3D printing, students will need access to “3D CAD (computer aided design) Software” to design their models and “3D Slicing Software” to slice, prepare and save their models for 3D printing. There are many different software programs available that are either free for educational use or open source. The software you choose will depend on a number of factors – the age, ability or previous experience of the students, the type of designs you are looking to create and whether you prefer the software to be desktop, cloud based or an app.
We have spoken to a number of our ambassadors and education hubs to collate a list of free software that is being used successfully in Schools, Colleges and Universities. This has been organised into slicing software, apps, beginner, intermediate and advanced CAD software. Select a software title to see a page of information to help you choose the best software and links to tutorials to help you to learn the software.
