BCN3D Cura is a free and easy-to-use 3D printing software that prepares your model for 3D printing. It provides an intuitive user interface and an improved workflow, both for newcomers and expert users. It is based on the renowned Open Source slicer, developed by Ultimaker. The print profiles are optimised for BCN 3D printers, but the software will slice 3D files for any 3D printer brand/model. The software supports STL, 3MF, OBJ and X3D 3D file formats as well as .g and .gcode files. It also has a function that will import and convert 2D images (.JPG .PNG .BMP and .GIF) to 3D extruded models. The software will allow you to open and place multiple models on the print bed (each with different slicing settings if required). This allows you to print multiple models at a time, making management of the printing process simpler.
BCN3D Cura realises of all the benefits of the IDEX system: simply merge multi-material models, generate support structures or even cut down printing times by combining hot ends with different nozzle sizes. The software features custom printing modes for the BCN3D Printers. Only a couple of clicks are needed to double the production capacity by mirroring or duplicating a design. BCN3D Cura includes validated printing profiles to increase the printing success rate. Just select the installed hotends and materials on the printer to get the right set of parameters. And, of course, expert users still can tweak more than 200 parameters.
BCN3D Cura is desktop software that can also be downloaded free of charge from the BCN website and is available for Windows, Mac and Linux.
We recommend BCN3D Cura as the default slicing software for all organisations using BCN 3D printers as like Cura it is free of charge, powerful, quick to slice and very easy to get started with. However in order to provide a better printing experience with the BCN 3D printers, the version developed by BCN3D contains a number of changes both in the interface and in Cura functionalities.
